About The Position

Monterey is seeking a General Surgeon to provide services at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. This is a 1099 contract position with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The role involves providing General Surgery Physician care, including clinic responsibilities, communicating test results, prescribing medications, and offering discharge education. The position also includes the education and supervision of Health Professions Trainees (HPTs) and attendance at staff meetings.

Requirements

• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
• BC/BE by the American Board of Surgery (ABS).
• Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any US State, Territory, and Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
• Active BLS or ACLS, NPI, and DEA required.
• Must be able to demonstrate technical proficiency in skills necessary to fulfill job requirements.
• Proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, paragraph 3.j.
• Subject to background/security investigation.
• Must pass TB test.
• Complete an online onboarding process.
• Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
