We are seeking a General Surgeon to support the Veteran community in the Clarksburg, WV area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care: Estimated 99% of the time is involved in direct patient care.
  • Clinic Responsibilities: Be present for any scheduled clinic/surgery start times as documented by physical presence in the clinic or Operating Room at the scheduled start time.
  • Communication of Test Results: Mechanisms must be in place to notify patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
  • Medications: Follow all established medication policies and procedures.
  • Discharge education: Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all general surgery clinical or surgical patients.
