About The Position

We are seeking a General Surgeon to support the Veteran community in the Clarksburg, WV area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. The role involves direct patient care, clinic responsibilities, communication of test results, medication management, discharge education, and administrative tasks such as quality improvement and staff meetings.

Requirements

Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Board Certified or Board Eligible.
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

Responsibilities

Be present for any scheduled clinic/surgery start times as documented by physical presence in the clinic or Operating Room at the scheduled start time.
Mechanisms must be in place to notify patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
Follow all established medication policies and procedures.
Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all general surgery clinical or surgical patients.
Attend Quality Improvement Meetings.
Attend Staff Meetings.
Complete QA/QI documentation.
Ensure Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting.
