About The Position

Surgical Affiliates Management Group (SAMGI) is seeking an experienced, Board-Certified Trauma Surgeon to serve as Trauma Medical Director at an ACS-verified Level III Trauma Center with 200+ beds in Northern California. This is a dual clinical and leadership opportunity combining active practice in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery with physician leadership, quality oversight, and trauma program development. As part of a physician-led organization, you'll have the infrastructure and administrative support to focus on what matters most: clinical leadership, high-quality surgical care, and building a strong trauma program. Requirements

Board Certification in General Surgery required
Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate clinical experience
Current or recent Trauma and Acute Care Surgery experience
Current or recent experience practicing at a Level I, II, or III Trauma Center
Current California medical license or eligibility for California licensure
Strong clinical judgment in high-acuity trauma and emergency surgery
Strong communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

Board Certification in Surgical Critical Care preferred, but not required
Prior trauma program leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

Provide physician leadership for the Trauma Surgery program
Maintain compliance with ACS and applicable state Level III Trauma Center standards
Lead and participate in trauma quality and performance improvement initiatives
Participate in trauma committees, peer review, and multidisciplinary conferences
Serve as a physician liaison between the trauma service, hospital leadership, and multidisciplinary teams
Promote a culture of clinical quality, patient safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Support ongoing trauma program development and operational improvement
Provide comprehensive Trauma and Acute Care Surgery patient care
Respond to trauma activations and acute surgical consultations
Perform trauma and emergency general surgery procedures as clinically indicated
Manage Acute Care Surgery consultations and operative cases
Participate in inpatient rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary treatment plans
Collaborate closely with Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, Critical Care, Nursing, Rehabilitation, and other hospital-based teams
