About The Position
We are seeking a General Surgeon to provide on-call coverage for general surgery emergencies and consults at a facility in Wilson, NC. This is a Locum Tenens position with a call-only schedule, requiring 24-hour beeper call with a 15-minute phone response time and a 45-minute in-person response time. The coverage period is from October 1, 2026, ongoing. The average daily volume is 4 patients, with 4 admissions and 4 phone consults. Rounding on unassigned patients is also required. The facility uses the MediTech EMR system. Temporary privileges are available, and hospital privileges are not required upfront.
Requirements
- Board Certified required
- Licensed in NC
- BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, ABLS certifications

Responsibilities
- Provide on-call coverage for general surgery emergencies and consults
- Perform general surgical procedures including laparoscopic, GI endoscopy, and other required skills
- Manage inpatient surgical patients, including rounding and admissions
- Participate in emergency surgery call, responding within required timeframes
- Document overtime and callback with notes as preferred
