About The Position
Seeking a General Surgeon for a Locum Tenens position in Corsicana, TX. This role involves inpatient and outpatient services with a focus on call-only coverage from August 1st to September 27th. The position requires 24-hour in-house call with a 30-minute response time, handling an average of 1-3 patients and 1-3 admissions per day. Support staff includes 1 RN and 1 Office Staff. The department has 4 beds and is a Level IV Trauma center. EMR system is Medhost. Hospital privileges are required, with temporary privileges available.
Requirements
- Active TX License
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE)
- ACLS certification
Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour in-house call coverage.
- Respond to calls within 30 minutes.
- Manage 1-3 patients per day.
- Handle 1-3 admissions per day.
- Perform general surgery procedures including adult and trauma cases.
- Perform laparoscopic surgeries such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, and Nissen fundoplication.
- Perform head/neck surgery (including thyroid), chest wall/pleural procedures, and breast surgery.
- Perform GI endoscopy procedures including upper and lower sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy.
- Perform hand surgery.
- Manage ventilation.
- Insert chest tubes and central lines.
- Place PA catheters.
- Perform vascular surgery and aneurysm repairs.
- Conduct rounding.
