The General Surgery Nocturnist provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for adult and pediatric patients (18 months and older) across a full range of general surgical needs. Perform emergency general surgical procedures, including upper and lower endoscopies, as needed. Oversee and manage the care of surgical patients admitted overnight or transferred from the Emergency Department (ED), outpatient clinics, or other referral centers. Cross-cover with inpatient General Surgery service, managing new admissions and ongoing care for patients. The General Surgery Nocturnist responds to consults and admissions from the ED, outpatient clinics, inpatient services, and local referral centers. Ensure consultation with the General Surgery staff for complex cases and consult with anesthesia team as needed for patient safety. The General Surgery Nocturnist responds to emergencies, including trauma cases, and provide necessary surgical interventions during the nocturnal hours.
