About The Position

General Plant Laborers support production packaging, processing, and sanitation operations at General Mills’ Great Falls, Montana flour mill. The role involves participating in equipment startup, changeover, and shutdown; assisting operators during production bottlenecks or line shutdowns; completing sanitation and cleanup tasks; and carrying out required HACCP processes and documentation. Laborers also participate in continuous improvement initiatives and attend required meetings and training. The position offers an opportunity to learn from experienced operators and develop skills in a manufacturing environment. The plant operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Eight-hour shifts are available, with listed first-shift hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and second-shift hours of 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Employees must be willing and able to work overtime on any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Starting pay is $24.11 per hour, with shift differentials for second and third shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Two years of consistent job history.
Complete a forklift certification course and drive a forklift.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
Ability to climb and/or work at heights using stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, hair or beard nets, and gloves when required.
Willingness and ability to meet grooming requirements for a food manufacturing environment.
Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, and wet conditions.
Willingness to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery.
Ability to work with allergens that may be present in a food environment.
Must meet the minimum age requirement of 18.
Willingness and ability to work overtime on any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Benefits

Starting pay of $24.11 per hour.
Annual negotiated pay increases.
Shift differentials: an additional $0.50 per hour for second shift and $0.55 per hour for third shift.
Overtime pay at 1.5 times the regular rate for work after eight hours and for Saturday work; Sunday work is paid at double the regular rate.
Full-time General Plant Laborers may earn more than $75,000 annually inclusive of overtime.
