About The Position

The General Merchandise Clerk is an entry-level team member responsible for delivering remarkable customer service through product knowledge, efficient service, and a friendly attitude. The role includes retail tasks related to products, customer service, pricing, inventory, and merchandising, as well as collaborating with team members and managers on additional tasks as needed. The position may be assigned to Health and Beauty Care, Hardlines, Fashion/Softlines, Pets, Hardware, Card and Party, Outdoor, Seasonal, or Floral departments.

Requirements

Detail-oriented and organized.
Strong listening and communication skills, both face-to-face and virtually.
Willingness to learn or existing familiarity with job-specific technology.
Problem-solving competence and eagerness to troubleshoot when necessary.
Process-driven, with the ability to follow procedures in an organized and efficient way.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling products.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Desire to work with customers consistently.
Availability to work weekends.

Responsibilities

Build rapport with customers.
Display a friendly and outgoing attitude through good eye contact and body language.
Answer customer questions or direct customers to another team member who can help.
Stock products and maintain displays according to merchandising standards.
Use technology to complete activities and tasks.
Complete retail tasks related to products, customer service, pricing, inventory, and merchandising.
Collaborate with other team members and managers on additional tasks as needed.
