General Manager, Healthcare Practices

Flex
•$275,000 - $325,000

About The Position

Flex is hiring a General Manager to build and run its healthcare practices business and make Flex the primary financial institution for healthcare practices. The role owns the sector end to end, including strategy, relationships and partnerships, product priorities, and the sector P&L. The General Manager builds on Flex’s platform, balance sheet, and teams, with product, credit, risk, and member experience teams executing and servicing alongside them. The position reports directly to the CEO. The role is modeled on sector coverage at an investment bank. The General Manager identifies important sector relationships and partnerships, determines what products are needed to win healthcare practices, originates business, and owns partnerships after they are signed. The target market includes independent physician, dental, aesthetic, veterinary, and specialty practices, as well as DSOs, MSOs, and sponsors consolidating them. The role is responsible for growing the number of healthcare practice owners banking with Flex and the revenue they generate. The General Manager will map and cover the sector, originate owners and firms through direct outreach and industry events, negotiate partnerships, and set product priorities for the sector. Initially, the role is supported by Flex’s account executives, account managers, and member experience team; the General Manager will build and lead a dedicated sector team as the pipeline grows. The role is expected to use or build AI-native tools for research, relationship tracking, outreach, and modeling. Compensation includes a base salary of $275,000–$325,000, adjusted for location and experience, and variable compensation targeted at 100% of base and tied to sector revenue, with no ceiling. A guaranteed variable component is available during the first year while the book is built, to be agreed at offer. The position is eligible for equity compensation. Flex offers medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.

Requirements

  • 7 to 12 years of experience in investment banking, private credit, private equity, venture, or a senior commercial role within healthcare practices.
  • A demonstrable record of originating business rather than servicing it.
  • An active network in healthcare practices, with the ability to name the 50 people who matter and have most of them take the candidate’s call within the week.
  • Fluency in practice economics, including payer mix, collections cycles, supply and equipment spending, practice purchases and sales, and practice lenders.
  • Ability to structure partnerships, negotiate referral economics, and work through a term sheet independently.
  • Ability to build financial models, banker-level Excel skills, and a working understanding of the unit economics of deposits, cards, and credit.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fintech, banking, lending, or selling a financial product to business owners.
  • A public or professional standing in healthcare practices, such as a podcast, newsletter, conference stage, or trade-body board seat.
  • Investing, advisory, or operating experience in a company in healthcare practices.

Responsibilities

  • Own the healthcare practices sector P&L, including building the business model, reporting weekly, and being accountable for the number of owners banking with Flex and the revenue they generate.
  • Map the healthcare practices sector and create a coverage plan for the 200 people who move the sector within the first 90 days.
  • Originate business by bringing owners and firms to Flex through dinners, site visits, conferences, portfolio days, and referrals, and represent Flex in the sector.
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships such as GPOs or buying groups, DSOs or MSOs, practice-management or EHR integrations, equipment-lender or practice-broker referral programs, and specialty societies.
  • Set product priorities for the sector by informing product leadership what owners need to move their primary banking relationship, and in what order.
  • Build and lead a dedicated sector team when the pipeline exceeds what one person can cover.
  • Use or adopt AI-native tools for research, relationship tracking, outreach, and modeling.
