The General Manager is responsible for everything that happens during a shift, including cost, inventory, and cash controls, customer relations, staffing, paperwork, food management, scheduling, store standards and cleanliness, marketing, and profitability. The manager is expected to set an example, follow all policies and procedures, and expect the same from the crew. The position involves customer service and may include store-team duties such as operating equipment, stocking ingredients, preparing products, processing telephone orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning equipment and the facility. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. The work can involve standing for most tasks, walking, sitting to complete paperwork, lifting and carrying supplies, pushing or pulling trays, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, crouching, reaching, and driving to make deliveries. Conditions include varying temperatures, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, hot surfaces and tools, sharp edges, moving mechanical parts, and potentially adverse weather. Delivery work may require navigating multi-story buildings and carrying products to customers.
