The General Manager is responsible for all activity during their shift, including staffing, paperwork, cost and cash controls, inventory, food management, customer relations, scheduling, store cleanliness, marketing, and profitability. The manager must set an example, follow all policies and procedures, and expect the same from the crew. The role also includes general store-team-member duties such as operating equipment, stocking ingredients, preparing products, processing telephone orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning equipment and the facility. Training and orientation are provided on the job. The job requires communicating with customers and coworkers in person and by telephone, processing orders, handling monetary transactions, using a computer keyboard or touchscreen, and performing repetitive tasks while working alone or with others and under stress. It involves standing and walking for much of the shift, completing paperwork while seated, and physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, reaching, bending, crouching, and occasionally climbing stairs or a ladder. Work conditions may include changing temperatures, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, hot surfaces and tools, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. Driving duties may include delivering products by car to customers and distributing flyers or door hangers. Delivery work requires a valid driver's license and safe driving record, access to an insured vehicle, navigation within the delivery area, and the ability to carry products while walking and climbing, potentially including five or more flights of stairs. Other duties may arise that are not specifically covered in this description.
