About The Position

The General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks related to the upkeep and repair of buildings and facilities. This includes construction repairs, renovations, fabrications, and modifications of building surfaces. The role involves maintaining and repairing various structural components, fixtures, and finishes. Additionally, the position requires adherence to work priorities, proper use of technology and equipment, and maintaining a safe and cooperative work environment. This role is designated as essential personnel, meaning the individual may be required to work during institutional emergencies.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license from state of residence and ability to drive.
License must have been valid for at least 3 years.
Acceptable driving record as determined by Agency’s insurance carrier and by Chimes DC policies and procedures.
A minimum of five (2) years of experience working in a Maintenance Trade.
Extremely high level of attention to detail.
Ability to perform quality work while following safety procedures.
Must be knowledgeable of and able to apply all local, state, and federal codes.
Must be able to work OT if and when needed.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Ability to go up and down stairs.
Ability to get into and out of truck.
Ability to reach above the head, bend, kneel, stoop.
Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50lbs. regularly as needed.
Ability to work in dusty spaces or adverse weather conditions.
Ability to see details on the floor, above the head, or on surfaces.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with limited direct supervision.

Responsibilities

Perform alterations involving construction repairs, renovations, fabrications and modifications of building and office surfaces.
Perform maintenance and repair of walls, doors, frames, windows, window frames, forms, ceilings, roofs, floors, all types of framing, shelving, tables, benches, cabinets, counters, countertops and facings, signs, scaffolds, and different building components such as wood, wood substitutes, metal, Masonite board, plastics, laminates, sheet rock, paneling, etc.
Modify, install, and assemble, remove or repair structures, partitions, walls, cabinets, furniture, roofs, ceilings, and floor coverings.
Sand, scrape, paint, stain, varnish shelves, cabinets and furniture as assigned.
Install, repair, or replace building hardware including locks, door closers, door hinges and/or stops.
Repair, replace or install roofing materials, shelves, pictures, posters, clocks, toilet paper dispensers, and other items or accessories as assigned.
Perform other tasks, such as locksmith work, tile setting, masonry, painting, glazing, and cabinet making.
Comply with priorities for the flow of work.
Use technology for the completion of specified job duties.
Use and care for equipment properly following all safety requirements.
Attend work regularly according to assigned work schedule.
Wear ID badge(s) at all times while performing work under this contract.
Follow instructions.
Attend and participate in all meetings and activities to facilitate professional development.
Work cooperatively with others in a positive, enthusiastic, respectful, and courteous manner.
Comply with all Agency policies and procedures and follow contract specifications.
