About The Position

The General Maintenance 2 performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to preventive maintenance, alterations, and repairs of buildings and equipment. The position repairs general electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, as well as apparatus and components of commercial machinery and equipment. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• At least three years of related experience.
• Valid driver's license at the time of hire.
• Ability to identify color-coded electrical and mechanical components and detect odors, vibrations, and surface characteristics that indicate equipment malfunction or operating status.
• Ability to move with agility to transport equipment and maintain hand and finger dexterity for basic maintenance tasks.
• Ability to follow general safety protocols.
• Ability to read, write legibly, and communicate professionally in English in person, in writing, and by telephone.
• Ability to work professionally with colleagues and Medical Center employees, generate mutual respect, and contribute to a positive working environment.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and perform duties sensitively in a patient care environment.
• Ability to communicate positively, effectively, and professionally; remain calm and courteous under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, collaborate, and accept direction.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic, calculate percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and apply common sense to written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload, define problems and solutions, make recommendations, manage time, and plan and implement objectives.
• Ability to distinguish colors as necessary, hear sufficiently for conversation and workplace sounds, and see well enough to read computer screens and required written documents.
