About The Position

Boise Cascade has an exciting opening for a General Line Product Manager! This role involves purchasing, pricing, and marketing a group of general line products for warehouse and customer sales. The Product Manager will develop and implement sales strategies, introduce new products, manage promotions, and conduct sales presentations. Key responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining acceptable inventory levels, turnover, and margins to maximize branch profitability, as well as soliciting direct and warehouse sales. Collaboration with location managers is essential for promoting assigned and new products. The role requires direct control over replenishment, pricing, and inventory of assigned products, including changing prices as necessary and maintaining catalogue price pages. An annual marketing plan incorporating vendor, division, and product promotions must be developed. Maintaining technical product knowledge, determining product market potential, and identifying/evaluating competitive products, new markets, and new product opportunities are crucial. Close work with division merchandising in supplier selection is expected. The role also involves maintaining customer relationships, quoting prices, selling additional products, and assisting operations managers in warehousing assigned products. Presentations at dealers’ meetings, sales meetings, and builder shows are part of the job. A strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement is required, along with performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience in related job function.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in utilizing computer software applications necessary for performing job responsibilities.
  • Typically, more than seven (7) years in building products industry or general line sales.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase, price, and market a group of general line products for warehouse and customer sales.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies, new products, and promotions.
  • Conduct sales presentations on assigned general line products.
  • Monitor and maintain acceptable inventory levels, turnover, and margins to maximize branch profitability.
  • Solicit direct and warehouse sales on all general line products.
  • Work closely with location manager or location sales manager in promotion of assigned and new products.
  • Maintain direct control over replenishment, pricing and inventory of assigned products.
  • Change prices as necessary and maintain catalogue price pages.
  • Develop annual marketing plan incorporating vendor, division and product promotions.
  • Maintain technical product knowledge.
  • Determine product market potential.
  • Identify and evaluate competitive products, new markets, new product opportunities, and competitors.
  • Work closely with division merchandising in selection of suppliers.
  • Maintain customer relationships, quote prices, sell additional products.
  • Assist operations manager in warehousing assigned products.
