About The Position

Boise Cascade has an exciting opening for a General Line Product Manager! This role involves purchasing, pricing, and marketing a group of general line products for warehouse and customer sales. The Product Manager will develop and implement sales strategies, new products, and promotions, and conduct sales presentations. Key responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining acceptable inventory levels, turnover, and margins to maximize branch profitability, and soliciting direct and warehouse sales. The role requires close collaboration with location managers or sales managers for product promotion, and maintaining direct control over replenishment, pricing, and inventory. The Product Manager will also change prices as necessary, maintain catalogue price pages, develop annual marketing plans, and maintain technical product knowledge. Additionally, they will determine product market potential, identify and evaluate competitive products, new markets, and new product opportunities, and work closely with division merchandising in supplier selection. Maintaining customer relationships, quoting prices, and selling additional products are also part of the role. Assistance to the operations manager in warehousing assigned products and making presentations at various industry events are expected. A strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement is essential. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Requirements

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience in related job function.
  • Requires proficiency in utilizing computer software applications necessary for performing job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase, price, and market a group of general line products for warehouse and customer sales.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies, new products, and promotions.
  • Conduct sales presentations on assigned general line products.
  • Monitor and maintain acceptable inventory levels, turnover, and margins to maximize branch profitability.
  • Solicit direct and warehouse sales on all general line products.
  • Work closely with location manager or location sales manager in promotion of assigned and new products.
  • Maintain direct control over replenishment, pricing and inventory of assigned products.
  • Change prices as necessary and maintain catalogue price pages.
  • Develop annual marketing plan incorporating vendor, division and product promotions.
  • Maintain technical product knowledge.
  • Determine product market potential.
  • Identify and evaluate competitive products, new markets, new product opportunities, and competitors.
  • Work closely with division merchandising in selection of suppliers.
  • Maintain customer relationships, quote prices, sell additional products.
  • Assist operations manager in warehousing assigned products.
  • Make presentations at dealers’ meetings, sales meetings, builder shows, etc.
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
