About The Position

Kaufman Dolowich is seeking an attorney to join its growing General Liability Defense practice in the firm’s New York City office. The firm is a full-service national law firm with more than 250 attorneys across 16 offices and over 25 practice areas. The attorney will work alongside experienced litigators on sophisticated general liability defense matters in a collaborative environment. The role offers hands-on litigation experience, direct client interaction, and mentorship while representing businesses, insurers, and insureds in a broad range of complex matters. The position includes managing a caseload from inception through resolution, advising clients, and participating in litigation activities including depositions, mediations, court appearances, and trial preparation. The stated base salary range is $140,000–$185,000. Actual compensation may vary based on market location and the candidate’s experience, skills, and job-related qualifications. Base salary is one component of the total rewards package, which also includes a discretionary and billable-hours-based bonus program and benefits for full-time employees.

Requirements

Admission to practice in New York.
3–6+ years of litigation experience; insurance defense, general liability, premises liability, or construction accident litigation experience is preferred.
JD from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
Exceptional writing, research, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, discovery demands and responses, and other litigation-related documents.
Communicate directly with clients, provide strategic guidance, and give regular case updates.
Take and defend depositions and participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
Participate in court appearances, inspections, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation.
Handle general liability defense matters, including premises liability and New York Labor Law construction accident cases.
Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters.
