About The Position

The General Ledger Senior Staff Accountant position is responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager in managing the monthly close process and various reporting requirements. This role involves maintaining accounting controls by managing input and verification of transaction information, ensuring all deadlines are met during the close process. The accountant will balance and verify accounts by reconciling statements and transactions such as Misc Accruals, Prepaid Insurance, and Service Review. They will also balance and verify all accounting transactions associated with the Distribution Center, resolving discrepancies by investigating documentation and coordinating the posting of adjustments. The position requires maintaining guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures, and ensuring an accurate balance between the main accounting system (PDI Enterprise) and various sub-reporting systems. Maintaining accounting controls by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls, ensuring compliance with IFRS, is also a key responsibility. The role contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results, providing assistance and mentoring to other accountants, and communicating effectively with internal and external customers. Special projects will be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required (must be a specific degree in Accounting or Finance).
  • Three years of accounting experience is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets to identify trends, variances, and insights that support financial decision-making and reporting.
  • Able to work independently and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Demonstrate ability to foster teamwork and facilitate teams through the encouragement and building of mutual trust, respect, and cooperation amongst team members.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and experience or ability to analyze data in a high transaction volume organization.
  • Must be proficient in MS Access, Excel and Word.
  • Able to interface with all functions at all levels within the organization.
  • Project management skills to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects based on business needs and requirements.
  • Detail-oriented, able to work effectively under deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed CPA preferred (active pursuit may be accepted, proof required).
  • Experience working with accounting applications preferred; PDI and Longview experience is a plus.
