About The Position

George Fox University's Finance Department is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the team as a General Ledger Accountant. The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compliant financial documents. Duties and responsibilities include entering, reviewing for accuracy, and reconciling financial data.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Proficiency with programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • The desire to be part of a team, detail oriented with good organizational skills and initiative.
  • Aptitude and interest in learning technology.
  • Integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Recording daily, weekly, or monthly transactions into the system of record to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Monitoring General Ledger activity to identify and resolve errors or discrepancies.
  • Reviewing existing processes to target opportunities for increased efficiency, functionality, and documentation.
  • Performing monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of receivables, payables, and other required accounts.
  • Assisting in preparations for the annual audit, required 990 tax reporting, and other reporting requirements of the University.
  • Cross training to provide backup in other areas within the department.
  • Completing special projects and periodic reporting as requested to support the evolving needs of the university.
  • Other duties assigned to ensure continuous improvement in finance operations.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
