General Laborer – Underground Utilities

About The Position

The General Laborer is a vital part of our field operations. You will support the installation and repair of underground utility systems by assisting pipe layers and equipment operators. This role requires physical stamina, a strong work ethic, and a "safety-first" mindset. For those looking to build a career in construction, this position offers a direct path toward becoming a Pipe Layer or Equipment Operator.

Requirements

• Must be able to perform heavy physical labor in Florida weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing/walking for long periods.
• Must have dependable transportation to job sites in the Daytona Beach and Central Florida area.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and communicate effectively with the crew for safety purposes.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or manual labor is preferred but not required. We will train the right individual.
• Familiarity with reading grade stakes or using a laser level.
• Knowledge of 811 "Call Before You Dig" procedures.
• Valid driver’s license (clean driving record is a plus).

Responsibilities

• Assist in manual digging, trenching, and backfilling around existing utility lines where machinery cannot reach.
• Safely move and position pipes (PVC, Ductile Iron, RCP), valves, grease traps, and manhole components.
• Act as a spotter for heavy equipment operators to ensure safety and prevent utility strikes; assist with minor equipment maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site; strictly follow OSHA standards and BSDG safety protocols.
• Use hand and power tools (saws, compactors, jackhammers) to prepare sites for grading and installation.
• Assist in the assembly of sewer laterals, water mains, and storm drainage systems.
