About The Position

Ascend Staffing is hiring a General Laborer in Channahon, Illinois, for $18.50 per hour. The role supports general labor, material handling, production, and housekeeping in a fast-paced warehouse and production environment. Duties may include working on a propane tank line, moving products, loading or unloading materials, and helping coworkers. Dependability, safety, teamwork, attention to detail, and steady hands-on effort are important. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The position offers weekly pay, direct deposit or debit card payment options, and benefits for eligible employees. Weekends are off, and overtime is available.

Requirements

Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Able to pass a background check.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Able to stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40–50 pounds.
Comfortable working at elevated levels.
Positive attitude and work ethic.
Able to work independently or as an active member of a team.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of management.

Nice To Haves

Heavy Laborer experience preferred.
State licensure to work with hazardous materials preferred, but not required.
Union certification preferred, but not required.
English and Spanish fluency is a plus.

Responsibilities

Unload propane tanks and prepare building-site materials.
Stack propane tanks and set up equipment.
Follow project instructions from a construction manager or supervisor.
Move materials between locations and depalletize them.
Check that paint has been applied properly; remove cylinders from the paint line, remove protective bags, and place cylinders on a conveyor.
Wear required personal protective equipment, including headgear, earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, and appropriate clothing.
Complete assigned tasks quickly and safely.
Assist with building scaffolding and temporary structures.
Dig, move dirt, or compact work areas.
Assist contractors, including craft workers, electricians, and painters, as needed.
Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials.
Clean and properly store construction equipment and tools.
Support general labor, material handling, production, and work-area organization.
