About The Position
The General Labor position at Michael Foods’ Chaska, Minnesota facility offers opportunities to learn and master a range of skills in food processing. Requirements
- No prior experience or training required.
- Ability to communicate in basic English, verbally and in writing, including speaking, reading, and understanding safety instructions, rules, and warnings for normal and emergency situations.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and write simple correspondence.
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
- Ability to use common-sense understanding to follow oral instructions and address problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.
Responsibilities
- Inspect items for defects and remove defective items from the process.
- Open containers and unwrap trays.
- Load machines with sufficient product, such as trays or baskets, to keep the production line operating.
- Maintain the basket washing station.
- Communicate relevant information to coworkers on the shift and to incoming employees at shift change.
- Report process inefficiencies, equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and GMP issues to the department Lead and/or Supervisor.
- Follow safe work practices and GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and protect product quality; report conditions or practices that may affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
- Participate in floor cleaning and sanitation when needed.
- Help maintain a safe and healthy workplace by following safety policies and procedures and incorporating safety and health into work tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
