About The Position

General Labor is a versatile team member who supports production, sanitation, warehouse, and operational activities throughout the facility. The role helps maintain safe, efficient, and organized operations by assisting where business needs require. Employees are expected to work safely, maintain high housekeeping standards, support production flow, uphold Teasdale’s Food Safety and Quality standards, and demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The position provides operational support across production departments, including empty can handling, bean dump operations, soak deck support, sorting belt operations, and seamer/filler support. It also involves housekeeping and 5S work, sanitation support, cross-training in multiple areas, and other duties assigned by management. The position is based in a food-processing environment with moving mechanical equipment, forklift traffic, wet floors, steam, noise, and temperature variations.

The posted pay rate is $18.55–$18.90 per hour. Training shifts are 12 hours, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., until the 8-hour shift is implemented. The job posting identifies the role as 3rd shift in Hoopeston, Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support throughout the facility as directed by supervision.
• Assist multiple production departments according to daily business needs and support production changeovers, startups, and production flow.
• Remove damaged empty cans; remove packaging from empty-can pallets; stage pallets for production; prepare pallets for forklift operators; stack empty pallets safely; document empty-can usage when assigned; and supply empty cans safely.
• Assist Bean Dump Operators, follow bean dump procedures, communicate with the Bean Dump Driver, maintain housekeeping in the area, report equipment or product concerns, and perform Food Safety Magnet inspections when assigned.
• Assist soak tank operators, keep soak tank areas clean, promptly remove spills, trash, and debris, and help with production preparation and housekeeping.
• Operate sorting belt control switches after training, monitor product flow into fillers, communicate with filler and seamer operators, sort product to established standards, report foreign material findings, and support metal detection and food safety procedures.
• Assist filler and seamer operators, maintain product flow, supply materials, support startup, shutdown, and changeovers, and keep operating areas clean and organized.
• Sweep production floors, remove trash and debris, empty trash containers before overflow, remove cardboard, plastic wrap, and waste, keep walkways and emergency exits clear, support 5S initiatives, and identify and correct housekeeping concerns.
• Assist the Sanitation Department, clean equipment during changeovers, support production cleanup, clean floors and production areas, follow sanitation and chemical safety procedures, and prepare production areas for startup.
• Assist other departments as business needs require, cross-train in multiple operational areas, perform additional duties assigned by management, support continuous improvement, and adapt to production demands.
• Follow GMP requirements, SQF and food safety procedures, hygiene requirements, contamination-prevention practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and Quality Assurance initiatives; report food safety concerns immediately.
