General Education Paraprofessional
About The Position
Performs intermediate human support work providing alternative education and basic skills instructional services to students in general instruction or in a specialized subject or assigned group of subjects. Motivates students to develop skills in assigned subject matters while supporting appropriate conduct, speech, and attire. The position may assist one or more students with activities of daily living and health-related functions, provide behavioral redirection and intervention, and perform other tasks identified in assigned students’ IEPs. The paraprofessional may work with students who have special health care or medical needs, behavior intervention plans, or other specialized care needs. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Teacher. Hours are 8:45 a.m. to 4:06 p.m.
Nice To Haves
- A minimum of two years of experience in a similar or like position.
- An associate’s degree or higher in education, child development, human development, learning, behavioral management, or a related area.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to students through teacher-directed activities in the classroom or community.
- Assist and support students, as needed, in accomplishing activities of daily living.
- Assist and support students with health-related and behavioral needs.
- Provide behavioral redirection and intervention.
- Perform other tasks identified within assigned students’ IEPs.
- Support students in developing skills in assigned subject matter and in maintaining appropriate conduct, speech, and attire.
