About The Position

ServiceSource is seeking a General Clerk II to join their team. This role involves performing various mail processing and distribution tasks, including sorting, collating, dispatching outgoing mail, and applying postage. The position also requires maintaining postage records and updating filing, inventory, mailing, and database systems. Depending on the contract requirements, additional duties may include operating an x-ray machine for mail scanning, pulling bags for dispatch, following HAZMAT procedures, processing unidentifiable and machinable mail, and performing other assigned job-related duties. This role is within the AbilityOne program, and ServiceSource hires individuals with significant disabilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • Experience in operating various mailroom machines required.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks on special class mail as well as routine and repetitive tasks for long periods with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to stand, reach, and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to make minor decisions regarding mail issues/questions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Good reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply, and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software and accountable mail tracking system.
  • Basic typing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in a mail center preferred
  • Knowledge of US Postal regulations in the process of dealing with incoming, outgoing, certified, registered, insured, and express mail preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks associated with mail processing and distribution.
  • Sorts and collates incoming mail for distribution and dispatches outgoing mail.
  • Places mail in proper buckets/tubs for dissemination.
  • Receives outgoing mail and applies correct postage.
  • Maintains postage records and updates filing, inventory, mailing and database systems.
  • Perform x-ray scan using an x-ray machine to scan all mail and packages for security of customers if required by contract.
  • If required at site, pull bags to be sent at the end of the day.
  • Follow HAZMAT procedures for handling potentially hazardous mail.
  • Process unidentifiable mail by opening and reading mail so appropriate distribution can be completed.
  • Process machinable mail (folding, inserting, sealing, and opening) as needed.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
