About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to sufficiently communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
  • Sufficient sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination for cleaning tasks and operating equipment.

Responsibilities

  • High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height in a counter-clockwise direction.
  • Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and remove fingerprints and smudges from surfaces. Spot clean windows.
  • Bathroom Cleaning: Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, and surrounding areas using germicidal solutions. Clean and refill soap and paper dispensers.
  • Empty Trash Cans: Remove liners, clean cans if necessary, and replace with clean liners.
  • Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture and in restrooms, using appropriate techniques.
  • Grounds care: Clean outside areas including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, high dusting for dust and cobwebs, cleaning public area glass, and policing the parking lot for trash.
  • Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass, clean planters, and perform high dusting of window areas.
  • Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables. Spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, remove and clean dirty trays, and police outside eating areas.
  • Floor Sanitizing: Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, working from the back of the room towards the exit.
  • Your Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement after completing a room.
  • Daily tasks: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting and high dusting are done daily.
  • Customer Relations and Service: Interact with customers in a friendly, cheerful, and courteous manner, answer questions, report issues to supervisors, work quietly, stay in the assigned work area, maintain a clean appearance, and report incomplete assignments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care, carpet extraction, and floor buffing.
