About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is hiring a General Cleaner to perform a variety of cleaning activities at Macy’s in Mid Rivers Mall. The role keeps assigned buildings and facilities clean, sanitary, and orderly, and includes other duties related to the assignment. The listed schedule is Sunday 1:00 PM–5:00 PM, Wednesday 3:00 PM–7:00 PM, Thursday 3:00 PM–7:00 PM, Friday 2:00 PM–7:00 PM, and Saturday 2:00 PM–8:00 PM. Duties include high dusting; sanitizing and spot cleaning; cleaning bathrooms; emptying trash; dust mopping or vacuuming; grounds care; cleaning public common areas and the food court; and floor sanitizing. Cleaners inspect their work, maintain courteous customer relations, report broken or out-of-order items, and follow supervisor instructions. Other assigned work may include floor care such as stripping and waxing floors, carpet extraction and bonneting, and auto scrubbing and buffing.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals, including following MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain the physical condition needed to perform assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; operating equipment; lifting or carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing or pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, and fingering.
Sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment and tools safely.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting of surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, curtain tips, vents, and ledges.
Sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and spot clean fingerprints, smudges, and windows using appropriate cleaning solutions.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets, and check and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, wipe them when needed, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum rooms, including under furniture, and clean and dispose of dust appropriately.
Clean exterior areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, parking lots, benches, vending machines, and public-area glass; remove gum and spot clean spills.
Clean public common areas, including hallways, glass, planters, and window areas; check for dirt, cobwebs, and debris.
Clean and sanitize food-court tables, return chairs to their places, remove trash, spot clean spills, clean trays with the tray power washer, and police outdoor eating areas.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution.
Inspect completed rooms, review cleaning steps, check furniture placement, and make corrections as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Knock before entering an occupied room, treat customers courteously, answer questions or refer them to someone who can, and work quietly.
Report broken or out-of-order items and incomplete assignments to the supervisor; remain in the assigned work area unless directed otherwise.
Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance and perform other duties as assigned, potentially including floor care and carpet cleaning.
