About The Position

The custodian cleans and keeps in an orderly condition in area such as classrooms, bathrooms, offices, cafeterias, common areas, gym and fitness areas, and perimeter grounds. Duties involve a combination of sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, or other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms.

Responsibilities

Performs general clean-up of all buildings as directed, ensuring rooms are maintained and fully equipped.
Cleans and sanitizes offices, meeting rooms, and public areas.
Dusts furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
Services, cleans, and supplies rooms.
Gathers and empties trash and recycling. May include transporting trash from collection points to incinerator, compactor, or pick up areas.
Cleans inside window panes, glass surfaces, and mirror surfaces to a height no greater than body height plus an arm's extension from floor level during periodic cleaning maintenance programs.
Polishes metal fixtures or trimmings.
Completes non-routine cleaning according to specified job orders, handles emergency cleaning and upkeep requests, and tackles heavy cleaning jobs upon request.
Maintains and upkeeps all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products.
Reports repairs and replacements needed when encountered on the job.
Mixes and disposes of all cleaning solutions appropriately.
Follows all health and safety regulations.
Ensures safe and sanitary storage and care of products.
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors.
Spot cleans carpets.
Steam cleans or shampoos carpets as needed or if in the contract.
Uses electrically powered scrubbing and polishing machines to burnish and scrub floors.
Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage.
Replenishes consumable items such as soap, toilet rolls, and paper towels if required within the contract.
Uses chemical agents as directed by the supervising officer in the discharge of cleaning operations or maintenance procedures after receiving proper instructions and training.
Completes any other duty assigned by supervisor.
Cleans toilets, urinals, hand basins, sinks, baths, showers, and drinking fountains, and wipes surfaces.
Replenishes consumables such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
Empties trash and sanitary bins.
Dusts the fan/vent.
Cleans all piping.
Mops and scrubs floors.
Cleans grout as needed.
Completes any other duties assigned by supervisor.
