About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
  • Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
  • Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate for assigned duties, including walking, standing, sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling with force, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
  • Good eyesight, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination, for cleaning tasks and safety.
  • Ability to work Friday 5am-10am, Saturday 6am-11am, and Sunday 7am-12noon.

Responsibilities

  • High dusting of surfaces above shoulder height using a treated high duster.
  • Sanitizing and spot cleaning surfaces below shoulder height, including ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trash cans.
  • Spot cleaning windows.
  • Cleaning bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, and dispensers.
  • Emptying trash cans and replacing liners.
  • Dusting or vacuuming floors using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Performing grounds care, including cleaning ash urns, trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds, spot cleaning spills, wiping benches and vending machines, and policing the parking lot.
  • Cleaning public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping hallways, cleaning planters, and high dusting window areas.
  • Cleaning the food court area, including tables, trash cans, and trays.
  • Sanitizing floors using germicidal solutions.
  • Conducting self-inspections to ensure cleaning standards are met and furniture is properly placed.
  • Performing daily cleaning tasks for halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and walls.
  • Interacting with customers in a friendly and courteous manner, answering questions, and reporting issues to supervisors.
  • Maintaining a clean and neat personal appearance.
  • Reporting to supervisor if work assignment is not completed by the end of the shift.
  • Performing other duties as assigned, which may include floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction, bonneting), auto scrubbing, and buffing floors.
