About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate for assigned duties, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, overhead reaching, and having adequate sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height.
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces below shoulder height using a germicidal solution.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, and dispensers, using germicidal solutions.
Empty trash cans, replacing liners and cleaning cans if necessary.
Dust or vacuum floors using a treated dust mophead or vacuum cleaner, working from back to front.
Perform grounds care, including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, high dusting for dust and cobwebs, cleaning public area glass, and policing the parking lot.
Clean public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, and high dusting window areas.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, remove dirty trays to the washroom and clean them, and police outside eating areas.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, starting at the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Visually inspect rooms after cleaning to ensure furniture placement is correct and make corrections as needed.
Perform daily cleaning tasks for hallways, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, as well as high dusting.
Engage in customer relations and service by knocking before entering occupied rooms, being friendly and cheerful, answering questions courteously, reporting broken items, working quietly, and maintaining a clean and neat personal appearance.
Report to supervisor if work assignment is not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrub and buffing of floors).
