About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling with both hands and arms (5-35 lbs force), climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
Sufficient sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination for cleaning tasks, safety standards, and equipment operation.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, working in a counter-clockwise direction to clean surfaces above shoulder height.
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces below shoulder height, including ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trash cans, using a germicidal solution.
Spot clean windows using the proper solution.
Clean bathrooms using a germicidal solution, including sinks, toilets, and dispensers, and refill dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, replacing liners and cleaning cans if necessary.
Dust mop or vacuum floors using the appropriate technique, ensuring all areas under furniture and in restrooms are cleaned.
Perform grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, high dusting for dust and cobwebs, cleaning public area glass, and policing the parking lot for trash.
Clean, dust mop, and spot mop main hallways, ensuring glass is cleaned, planters are clean, and performing high dusting for cobwebs and debris.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, place chairs back under tables, spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, remove dirty trays to the washroom, clean them using a tray power washer, and stack clean trays.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, starting at the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Visually inspect rooms after cleaning to ensure furniture placement is correct and make corrections as needed.
Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, as well as high dusting.
Interact with customers in a friendly and courteous manner, answering questions or referring them to someone who can assist.
Report any broken or out-of-order items to the supervisor.
Work quietly and minimize noise.
Stay within the assigned work area unless directed otherwise by a supervisor.
Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance.
Report to the supervisor if work assignments are not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned, which may include floor care such as stripping and waxing floors, carpet extraction and bonneting, and auto scrubbing and buffing floors.
