General Assembler - Year-Round Modular Construction Worker - 1st Shift
About The Position
Miller Industries is seeking year-round modular construction workers for its 1st Shift team at its Burton, Michigan location. This is an indoor position at the same location year-round. The regular schedule is 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime as required on weekends when needed for production. The position pays a competitive hourly rate. Workers assemble modular structures and components using materials including wood, steel, metal, plastics, drywall, and composites. They follow blueprints or supervisor instructions, measure and prepare materials, use hand and power tools to build projects, check completed work for accuracy, and install windows and doors. They are also expected to follow safety rules and keep the work environment clean.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in a skilled trade such as roofing, framing, siding, carpentry, or general construction labor.
- Strong trade fundamentals, including knowledge of construction methods, tool safety, and material handling.
- Ability to confidently read tape measures and perform basic construction math.
- Willingness to learn to read blueprints or layout directions.
- Comfort working at heights, including on ladders, lifts, and rooftops.
- Physical fitness for long shifts involving walking, standing, and bending.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Assemble walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using wood, steel, metal, plastics, drywall, and composite materials.
- Measure and arrange materials according to established layouts, blueprints, or instructions from a supervisor.
- Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
- Use hand and power tools to build assigned projects securely.
- Check completed work for accuracy using tape measures, levels, and framing squares, and correct problems as needed.
- Fit and install windows and doors.
- Follow safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
