About The Position

The General Accountant supports the Finance team by performing a balanced mix of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activities. This entry-level role is designed for a recent accounting graduate and provides hands-on training, coaching, and exposure to core accounting processes. The role requires strong attention to detail, comfort with financial systems, and a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies. The incumbent works closely with teammates to support month-end activities and daily accounting operations, providing a strong foundation for a long-term accounting career.

Requirements

  • Recent graduate or near completion of a diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong interest in building a career in accounting and finance
  • Systems-savvy with the ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies
  • Intermediate Excel skills and comfort working with data
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
  • Willingness to learn and adopt AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot

Responsibilities

  • Process Accounts Receivable activities, including invoicing support, payment application, customer reconciliations, and responding to internal and external inquiries
  • Process Accounts Payable activities, including vendor invoice entry, coding and approvals, payment processing, and vendor statement reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate documentation and provide support for audits and internal reviews
  • Learn and operate multiple accounting and operational systems efficiently
  • Leverage Microsoft Excel and tools such as Microsoft Copilot to improve accuracy, speed, and workflow efficiency
  • Collaborate with Finance, Payroll, and other internal stakeholders to support accounting operations
  • Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance team
