Ice River Sustainable Solutions is growing, and we're looking for a detail-oriented and motivated General Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting into Finance leadership, this role will support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close activities, reconciliations, government remittances, and financial reporting support across multiple business entities. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, thrives on accuracy, and is looking to continue building their career within a growing Canadian organization.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing, multi-entity, or fast-paced business environment.
  • Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, working papers, government remittances, and AP/AR support.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA enrollment or active pursuit of a CPA designation is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Complete account reconciliations and maintain accurate working papers across multiple companies and programs.
  • Prepare and support government remittances including GST/HST, QST, sales tax, recycling remittances, and other required filings.
  • Assist with government reporting requirements and surveys.
  • Record daily banking transactions and support bank reconciliations.
  • Provide backup support for banking and other routine finance functions.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities, including invoice review, coding, billing support, collections, and account follow-up.
  • Review general ledger activity and investigate discrepancies or unusual transactions.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Support internal and external audit requests through schedule preparation and document gathering.
  • Assist with financial reporting and analysis as required.
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as required.
