About The Position

The General Accountant supports the Finance Department through billing, collections, account reconciliations, and general accounting support. This role works closely with operations, service, sales, and customers to ensure accurate financial records, timely invoicing and collections, and efficient resolution of billing discrepancies. This role requires 3 days in-office and allows 2 days remote each week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounting, billing, accounts receivable, or collections experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite preferred.
  • Construction, service, or project-based accounting experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of accrual accounting and internal control procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
  • Excellent communication and customer services abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Excel and general financial reporting tools.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, review, and distribute customer invoices for projects, service, and parts.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on delinquent accounts.
  • Assists customers with billing discrepancies, payment arrangements, and account resolution.
  • Validate billing against contracts, purchase orders, and job costing data.
  • Apply customer payments and resolve unapplied cash or billing discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate customer and vendor records, ensuring timely updates to billing and payment information.
  • Monitor customer billing portals and ensure invoices are submitted timely per customer requirements.
  • Assist with account reconciliations and general ledger support activities.
  • Prepare reports related to collections, aging, and account status.
  • Support process improvements, reporting initiatives, and special projects as assigned.
