About The Position

The Gateway Import/Export Specialist II is responsible for coordinating and facilitating international import and export shipments through gateway operations while ensuring compliance with customs regulations, trade laws, company policies, and customer requirements. This role manages shipment documentation, customs clearance processes, carrier coordination, and operational activities to support the efficient movement of goods across international borders.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years of experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, import/export operations, or transportation management.
  • Experience working with customs compliance requirements and international shipping documentation preferred.
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations, customs procedures, and international trade compliance.
  • Understanding of Incoterms, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications, and transportation documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), customs software, or ERP systems preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily import and export shipments through designated gateway locations.
  • Monitor shipment movement and ensure timely processing, clearance, and delivery.
  • Review and validate shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, airway bills, and certificates of origin.
  • Ensure accurate data entry into transportation management and customs systems.
  • Resolve shipment delays, routing issues, and customs-related exceptions.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and international trade requirements.
  • Review import/export documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Support customs clearance activities and collaborate with customs brokers.
  • Maintain records in accordance with import/export regulations and company retention policies.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, carriers, brokers, and internal stakeholders regarding shipment status and documentation requirements.
  • Provide proactive communication on shipment exceptions, delays, and corrective actions.
  • Support customer inquiries related to international shipping and customs processes.
  • Collaborate with operations, transportation, compliance, and customer service teams to ensure service excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned.
