About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site, determines the contents of incoming materials for billing, and collects applicable usage fees. The role involves documenting waste with truck scales and computer systems, handling customer payments and receipts, maintaining accurate daily records, and coordinating special waste loads with operations. The position also includes answering general inquiries by telephone and keeping the work area clean.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position involving cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience using computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the contents of incoming material to bill customers correctly.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents and suggest alternatives based on special waste, waste type, and/or local market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts, maintain accurate records and billing, and deposit daily receipts into the safe depository.
Document waste entering the facility using truck scales and computer systems, and track total incoming waste.
Notify operations about special waste or other special incoming loads; direct or dispatch loads as necessary; process required paperwork and perform other duties needed to process special loads.
Answer telephone calls and provide general information to callers.
Maintain a clean work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
