About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site accurately and efficiently, and collects appropriate usage fees from customers. The role evaluates incoming materials for billing and acceptance, processes customer payments and receipts, documents waste using truck scales and computer systems, and coordinates special loads with operations. The attendant also answers calls, maintains a clean work area, and performs other assigned job-related duties.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position requiring the handling of cash and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the contents of material entering the facility to bill customers appropriately.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents and suggest alternatives for special waste, waste type, or local market considerations.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts to ensure accurate records and billing, and deposit daily receipts in the safe depository.
Document incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, and track the total amount of waste entering the facility.
Notify operations about special waste or other special incoming loads; direct or dispatch as needed and process required paperwork.
Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
