Join an established gastroenterology team in an employed position within a nonprofit health system. The role primarily serves outpatient needs, supported by a large referral base, a large employer-health clinic, and limited GI competition. The practice includes both inpatient and outpatient care, with inpatient workload minimized by 24/7/365 in-house board-certified or board-eligible hospitalists who manage admissions and discharges. The call structure is capped at 1:6. Opportunities for leadership are available, and recent graduates as well as experienced physicians are welcome. The position is based at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo, a 117-bed hospital serving a population of approximately 82,000. The facility operates a 24/7 emergency department and is part of Ascension, a national nonprofit Catholic health system with an integrated referral network. The physician will provide medical services to patients in an assigned area, evaluate and treat patients using appropriate diagnostic and treatment skills, coordinate discharge planning with case management, and recommend and participate in efforts to improve the cost effectiveness and quality of patient care. A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) is required. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology and hold Indiana physician licensure before the hire or transfer date. Advanced Life Support is preferred; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
