Requirements

  • Typically 5–8 years of experience in a distribution centre or supply chain environment.
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage a team of experienced managers, as well as develop and motivate colleagues.
  • Strong ability to plan, organize, and prioritize competing demands while managing a significant workload.
  • Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as SAP, JDA, and NSSL, as well as operational optimization tools such as Power BI and space management systems. Strong analytical and forward-planning abilities, along with solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of collective agreements or previous experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Ability to operate in high-volume, fast-paced, multi-shift environments, including temperature-controlled areas with temperatures as low as -33°C in frozen product areas.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, plan, and optimize daily inbound receiving and outbound shipping flows, ensuring operational efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Oversee product handling, space utilization, and inventory accuracy.
  • Manage, schedule, train, and engage a team of senior supervisors. Evaluate team performance, proactively address issues, and ensure consistency across shifts.
  • Implement and maintain standardized processes through coaching, monitoring, and development, while ensuring colleague compliance.
  • Administer collective agreements and manage disciplinary procedures in unionized environments, fostering positive labour relations between supervisors and union representatives across their respective shifts.
  • Implement and enforce Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards and metrics, food safety legislation, and loss prevention regulations.
  • Meet and exceed targets for order-picking rates, dock-to-stock turnaround times, and labour budgets.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service by meeting service-level expectations and achieving on-time deliveries.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant General Manager and General Manager in developing and controlling the annual operating budget.
