About The Position

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of legal concepts, including legal terminology, research methods, and document formatting (does not need to be advanced).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to explain concepts clearly and patiently.
  • Willingness to ask for guidance and collaborate with the supervising professor as needed.
  • Dependable and able to maintain confidentiality with all student interactions.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Students must have completed the financial aid application process, including filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Students must be either U.S. citizens, permanent resident aliens, or other eligible classifications of non-citizen.
  • Students must have financial need as determined by a uniform need analysis evaluation performed by Chatt Tech according to federal guidelines based on FAFSA.
  • Students must be enrolled for the semester they are working as a work-study employee.
  • Students must be in good academic standing at the college and maintain satisfactory academic progress according to federal guidelines.
  • Students must pass a mandatory background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions for students enrolled in Legal Studies courses.
  • Assist students in understanding course material, including legal terminology, research and writing techniques, case briefing, and citation formats.
  • Help students develop effective study strategies, time management, and exam preparation skills.
  • Communicate regularly with supervising faculty regarding student needs and potential areas for instructional support.
