About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Special Events, the Events Assistant, Summer Student will support Casey House Foundation’s events team in planning and delivering engaging fundraising events that raise both funds and awareness for an important cause. This role offers a hands-on introduction to fundraising, events, and the not-for-profit sector, with opportunities to contribute to event logistics, donor and guest experience, and post-event evaluation. You will help ensure that events are well-organized, welcoming, and mission-aligned, while gaining practical experience in administration, communications, and community engagement. This is a hybrid position, with the majority of hours of work occurring at Casey House and at event locations. Some work can be done remotely.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a degree or diploma program in Event Management, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort interacting with guests, volunteers, and vendors.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines.
  • Comfortable with administrative work, including data entry and working with lists, documents, and spreadsheets.
  • Able to work on-site and support some events during evenings or weekends.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A compassionate, client- and community-centered approach that aligns with Casey House’s values.
  • A passion for fostering inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environments at events and in the workplace.
  • Eligible per the requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs program.
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with administrative tasks leading up to events, including organizing attendee and volunteer lists.
  • Help coordinate and organize event supplies, auction items, and event materials.
  • Help prepare documents for committee meetings (e.g. PowerPoint presentations).
  • Support the proofreading of event materials and signage for clarity, accuracy, and tone.
  • Assist with event set-up, including unpacking, organizing, and arranging items prior to events.
  • Greet guests and volunteers, assisting with registration and providing wayfinding support.
  • Respond to attendee questions as they arise and direct them as needed throughout the event.
  • Support event take-down, including packing items and preparing them for transport or storage.
  • Assist with follow-up activities such as thanking attendees and volunteers.
  • Help organize event materials and supplies after events and support tracking of lessons learned.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Foundation team, including data entry, filing, and organizing records as needed.
  • Become familiar with Casey House’s programs and services to help answer basic questions from guests and volunteers.
  • Approach work with an open mind and a compassionate, empathetic desire to make a positive difference in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of Foundation priorities.
