About The Position

The Fun Squad staff member is responsible for assisting with the setup, execution, and cleanup of special events and programs at the park district. This role involves working both indoors and outdoors, ensuring events run smoothly and providing excellent customer service to families and residents. Duties include event setup and takedown, crowd management, assisting vendors, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. This position requires flexibility, teamwork, and a positive attitude, as shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.

Requirements

Applicants must be 16 years of age or older in compliance with Illinois Child Labor Laws and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Able to organize games, set up events and communicate well with the public.
Requires strong people and customer service skills and being able to communicate effectively with staff and the public.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. with assistance to setup and/or teardown special events.
First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Set up and take down all equipment for the assigned special event as needed.
Leads activities and interacts with the public to encourage participation.
Communicate the special programs, services, and operations of the District.
Ensure that all participants stay safe during special events by educating them on safe practices and making sure that all areas are up to safety standards.
Responsible for birthday parties serving as the “party host”. Duties include set-up, decorating, food/drink serving, clean-up, and activities creating a fun, safe, energetic, and exciting atmosphere for birthday participants and their guests.
Perform other duties as assigned.
