About The Position

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP is seeking a Full Stack Developer to deliver cloud solutions on Azure, including responsive web applications, REST APIs published through an API gateway, and complex SQL supporting financial reporting. The role owns features end to end, from database schema and stored procedures through the API and front-end layers to deployment pipelines. The developer will work in a containerized, continuously deployed environment, shipping code through automated pipelines to Azure Kubernetes Service and Azure App Service. The position requires adapting as the technology stack evolves and collaborating with business users and other developers across concurrent projects in a hybrid remote and in-office team. The firm’s hybrid schedule requires in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday, with optional remote work Mondays and Fridays; employees must be available for onsite work up to five days a week as business needs dictate, and flexibility is required. The role also involves participating in Agile ceremonies, reviewing and receiving code reviews, documenting design decisions and operational runbooks, and supporting occasional after-hours release windows and production incidents through a shared escalation rotation.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional C# and .NET development experience, including ASP.NET Core MVC and Web API.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Proven expertise developing and optimizing complex T-SQL stored procedures in SQL Server.
  • Demonstrated REST API design and implementation experience in production systems.
  • Hands-on Azure experience with App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service, and resource management.
  • Experience building Docker images and running containerized workloads in production.
  • Experience authoring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Microsoft Entra ID integration experience, including OAuth 2.0 and OIDC authentication flows.
  • API gateway experience; Kong is preferred, while equivalent experience with Azure API Management or a similar platform is acceptable with demonstrated transferable depth.
  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
  • Experience with Git-based source control and trunk- or branch-based workflow practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn unfamiliar technology quickly and apply it in production.
  • Demonstrated reliability and ability to work independently and collaboratively within a hybrid remote and in-office team environment.
  • Flexibility to work in-office Tuesday through Thursday, work remotely on Mondays and Fridays if desired, and be available onsite up to five days per week as business needs dictate.
  • Support occasional after-hours release windows and production incidents and participate in a shared escalation rotation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
  • SPFx, SharePoint REST API, and Microsoft Graph development experience.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience with Bicep or Terraform.
  • Kubernetes ecosystem experience with Helm, Kustomize, service mesh, or GitOps tooling such as Flux or Argo CD.
  • Experience with message-based and event-driven architecture using Azure Service Bus or Event Grid.
  • Entity Framework Core and database migration tooling experience.
  • Power BI dataset and semantic model development experience.
  • Experience integrating Azure OpenAI or Azure AI Foundry services into business applications.
  • Experience in a professional services, legal, or other regulated environment with confidentiality requirements.
  • Relevant certifications such as AZ-204, AZ-400, AZ-305, or DP-300.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain web applications and services using React, TypeScript, C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core MVC, and Web API.
  • Design and implement REST APIs with versioning, pagination, consistent error contracts, and OpenAPI documentation.
  • Develop event-driven and scheduled workloads using Azure Functions.
  • Write unit and integration tests and maintain meaningful coverage of business logic.
  • Profile and remediate performance issues across application and data tiers.
  • Develop and optimize complex T-SQL stored procedures against financial databases in SQL Server.
  • Analyze and tune query performance using execution plans, indexing strategy, statistics, and set-based rewrites of cursor-driven logic.
  • Build queries and datasets for operational and financial reports and validate results against source systems.
  • Manage schema changes through versioned, repeatable migrations rather than manual production edits.
  • Containerize applications with Docker and author and maintain Dockerfiles and multi-stage builds.
  • Deploy and operate workloads on Azure Kubernetes Service, including deployments, services, ingress, config maps, secrets, autoscaling, and health probes.
  • Deploy and configure Azure App Service applications, including slots, scaling rules, and application settings.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for build, testing, container image publishing, security scanning, and staged deployment.
  • Manage Azure resources and configuration as code using Bicep, Terraform, or ARM, avoiding unreproducible portal-only changes.
  • Instrument applications with Application Insights and act on telemetry.
  • Configure and maintain Kong API Gateway services, routes, consumers, and plugins for authentication, rate limiting, request transformation, and logging.
  • Implement authentication and authorization with Microsoft Entra ID, including app registrations, OAuth 2.0 and OIDC flows, scopes and app roles, managed identities, and certificate-based credentials.
  • Support external and partner access scenarios using Entra External ID and B2B collaboration.
  • Store and rotate secrets and certificates in Azure Key Vault and keep credentials out of source control and configuration files.
  • Build responsive interfaces with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Develop component-based front ends using a modern framework, with React preferred.
  • Meet WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards and verify behavior on mobile and tablet form factors.
  • Consume REST APIs with appropriate handling of loading, error, and empty states.
  • Develop SPFx web parts and extensions in TypeScript and React.
  • Integrate with SharePoint REST APIs and Microsoft Graph for data access and automation.
  • Apply least-privilege Microsoft Graph permission scoping and appropriate app-only and delegated authentication patterns.
  • Work on multiple concurrent projects with business users and other developers.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Review peers’ code, accept reviews of own work, and keep pull requests small enough to be reviewed meaningfully.
  • Document design decisions and operational runbooks for developed solutions.
  • Support occasional after-hours release windows and production incidents, and participate in a shared escalation rotation for supported applications.
