Full Stack Developer
About The Position
As a Full Stack Developer at Zoom, you will take end-to-end ownership of features and services used worldwide, from design through deployment, monitoring, and production support. The role spans backend engineering, frontend development, and applied AI, with opportunities to build scalable solutions across the technology stack. You will work autonomously and collaborate with cross-functional partners in a hybrid arrangement requiring on-site presence 2–3 days per week at Zoom’s San Jose, California office. Remote arrangements are not available. You will join a team building systems that support Zoom’s platform at scale, including backend services, intelligent APIs, and AI-enabled workflows. You will partner with product, design, and infrastructure teams to deliver features that improve how people connect and collaborate.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of software development experience with proven full-stack expertise.
- Hands-on proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
- Experience building frontend applications with React, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, or equivalent frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of SQL databases, data modeling, and query optimization, plus familiarity with NoSQL databases.
- Working knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, AI agents, RAG, prompt engineering, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Practical experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Git, OAuth2, RBAC, and application security fundamentals.
- Solid grasp of system design, distributed systems, scalability principles, and engineering best practices.
- Ability to drive features independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Build scalable full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, modern frontend frameworks, REST and GraphQL APIs, and relational and NoSQL databases.
- Design and maintain robust backend services and APIs focused on performance, security, and long-term reliability.
- Build and integrate AI and LLM-based solutions, including AI agents, RAG pipelines, tool calling, and prompt-based workflows, with working knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Own features end to end, including design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across frontend, backend, APIs, and database layers.
- Apply AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
