Full Stack Developer (Python), Vice President
About The Position
SMBC Group is seeking an experienced Lead Python Full Stack Developer to design, build, and lead development of modern, scalable web applications using Python-based microservices and React-based micro frontends. The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership and ownership of application technical design, coding standards, developer guidance, code and pull-request reviews, CI/CD and deployments, testing, and production releases. The developer is responsible for ensuring applications meet enterprise standards for quality, security, performance, maintainability, and auditability. The position leads the technical design and development of enterprise-grade Python full stack applications, including scalable and reusable microservices, RESTful APIs, service-to-service integrations, and secure APIs for business functionality, data processing, workflow orchestration, and external integrations. It also establishes reusable frameworks, libraries, API and logging standards, error-handling patterns, and development conventions; prepares and maintains technical design documents and related architecture and implementation materials; and participates in architecture and technical design reviews. The role also leads development of modern web applications with React, TypeScript or JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, including modular and reusable micro frontend architectures and shared UI components. It integrates frontend applications with Python REST APIs and microservices and contributes to application CI/CD and releases in partnership with DevOps teams. SMBC uses a hybrid workforce model, with employees working from home and an SMBC office; employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their office. Specific schedules are discussed during interviews, and hybrid work may not be permitted for certain roles.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Advanced Python development experience.
- Strong experience with Django.
- Strong experience with FastAPI.
- Experience with Django REST Framework.
- Knowledge of Flask or similar Python frameworks.
- Experience with REST APIs and microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of authentication and authorization patterns.
- Knowledge of ORM and database integration.
- Knowledge of asynchronous/background processing concepts.
- Knowledge of API versioning and exception-handling patterns.
- Experience with unit and integration testing using tools such as Pytest.
- Strong React development experience.
- TypeScript/JavaScript skills.
- HTML5/CSS skills.
- Knowledge of component-based frontend architecture and React Hooks.
- Knowledge of state-management patterns and REST API integration.
- Experience with micro frontend architecture.
- Frontend testing experience using tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, or equivalent.
- Ability to work within a hybrid model and live within a reasonable commuting distance of the SMBC office.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical design and development of enterprise-grade Python full stack applications.
- Design scalable and reusable microservices architectures using Python frameworks.
- Define clear boundaries between APIs, business services, orchestration components, persistence layers, and frontend applications.
- Design and build RESTful APIs and service-to-service integrations.
- Establish reusable application frameworks, common libraries, API standards, error-handling patterns, logging standards, and development conventions.
- Prepare and maintain technical design documents, architecture diagrams, API specifications, data-flow diagrams, deployment designs, and implementation documentation.
- Participate in architecture and technical design reviews and ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and security standards.
- Build secure APIs for business functionality, data processing, workflow orchestration, and external system integrations.
- Implement authentication, authorization, role-based access control, input validation, exception handling, structured logging, and audit trails.
- Design asynchronous and background-processing patterns where required.
- Develop integration patterns for relational databases, APIs, messaging platforms, and cloud services.
- Lead development of web applications using React, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Design modular and reusable micro frontend architectures.
- Establish reusable React components, hooks, shared libraries, UI patterns, and frontend coding standards.
- Integrate React applications with Python-based REST APIs and microservices.
- Own or actively contribute to application CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
- Partner with DevOps teams to automate build, test, security scanning, packaging, and deployment activities.
- Guide developers and perform daily code and pull-request reviews.
- Support testing and production releases.
- Ensure applications meet enterprise standards for quality, security, performance, maintainability, and auditability.
