About The Position

RS&H is seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to support priority initiatives across its aviation, federal, transportation, aerospace, health and science, and corporate market sectors. The role is a technical subject matter expert responsible for designing, developing, and deploying secure, scalable, client-focused full-stack applications in production environments, with a particular emphasis on backend engineering and long-term reliability, scalability, and extensibility. The developer works with teams across market sectors to take concepts through requirements definition, architecture, system and interface design, development, testing, evaluation, and launch in configurable, client-specific production environments. The position also provides development expertise to project teams and client contracts, delivering applications, integrations, and automation. It establishes software development practices—including standards, version control, CI/CD, automated testing, documentation, security protocols, and tool and platform selection—and uses professional judgment to determine when low-code platforms or custom code are appropriate. The position has no direct reports and provides authoritative technical direction to project teams and junior staff. The Digital Solutions team develops software, automation, and digital tools that support RS&H client solutions and project delivery. It collaborates with architects, engineers, and scientists to identify opportunities, develop products and services, and bring them into production.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field and 10 years of experience, or a Master’s degree and 5 years of experience.
Full life-cycle software development experience, from concept definition and requirements through architecture, development, testing, and production launch.
Typically at least 5 years of experience in architecture and engineering, professional services consulting, or a comparable environment developing software for operational or client-facing use.
Experience establishing or maturing software development practices, including source control, build and deployment pipelines, automated testing, and release management.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States; visa sponsorship or transfer is not available.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in a related technical field.
Custom plugin and extension development for Autodesk (Revit, Civil 3D), Bentley, or comparable design platform APIs.
Domain experience in transportation, aviation, aerospace, or infrastructure systems, such as ITS, TSM&O, or digital twins.
Experience integrating design models (BIM) with real-time operational data.
Experience productizing prototypes, including SaaS delivery and reusable software platforms.
Relevant cloud, development, architecture, or security certifications.

Responsibilities

Own software development for Digital Solutions offerings throughout the life cycle, from shaping concepts into products through delivery and transition to a product support team.
Lead scoping, level-of-effort estimates, and technical approaches for pursuits, projects, and internal initiatives.
Transform manual workflows into automated and agentic processes.
Establish software development standards, tooling, and release practices.
Use expert judgment to determine when to use low-code, no-code, and generative-AI-assisted approaches versus custom code.
Provide technical direction and code review to project teams and junior staff.
Translate problem statements from non-technical colleagues into technical requirements and system architecture.
Document design decisions and communicate technical trade-offs to business stakeholders.
Select development tools and platforms based on cost, support requirements, and long-term maintainability.
Establish documentation, playbooks, and reusable components that accelerate future projects.
Evaluate solution maturity and determine which concepts are ready for production.
