About The Position

The Brentwood YMCA is seeking a Full Circle Specialized Program Assistant for their Full Circle Program. This role involves leading high-quality, engaging classes for individuals with intellectual and developmental disorders, focusing on technical skills, character development, and fun. The assistant will teach skills and activities related to areas like physical therapy, occupational therapy, or special education, build relationships with participants, and address behavioral or sensory challenges.

Requirements

• Minimum Age: 18
• College degree or life experience in relevant fields (e.g., therapy, education)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in your specialty area
• Enthusiasm for working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disorders
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• New Hire Orientation before your first shift
• CPR/First Aid/AED within 30 days of hire
• Relias training within 14 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Teach skills and activities related to your area of expertise, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, or special education
• Lead dynamic, safe, and educational classes tailored to participants’ needs
• Build meaningful relationships with participants, encouraging interaction and growth
• Address behavioral or sensory challenges calmly and effectively
• Work closely with parents, participants, and team members to deliver an outstanding program experience
