About The Position

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee is hiring a part-time Full Circle Specialized Program Assistant for the Full Circle Program at the Brentwood YMCA. The role involves leading high-quality, engaging classes that foster technical skills, character development, and fun for individuals with intellectual and developmental disorders. The assistant teaches activities related to their area of expertise and adapts classes to participants’ needs, while building relationships and working with parents, participants, and team members.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• College degree or life experience in a relevant field, such as therapy or education.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty area.
• Enthusiasm for working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disorders.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Complete New Hire Orientation before the first shift.
• Obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 30 days of hire.
• Complete Relias training within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Teach skills and activities related to an area of expertise, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, or special education.
• Lead dynamic, safe, and educational classes tailored to participants’ needs.
• Build meaningful relationships with participants and encourage interaction and growth.
• Address behavioral or sensory challenges calmly and effectively.
• Work with parents, participants, and team members to deliver an outstanding program experience.
