About The Position

ML Northern is seeking FUEL & LUBE TECHNICIANS to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. For this role, ML Northern offers a combined rate of up to $53.32/hour as well as room for growth! The position is site-based and involves working at Syncrude/Suncor Sites on a 14 x 7 schedule with 12-hour days. Camp accommodations are not provided, but bussing is available from Fort McMurray. Overtime is provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week. Successful candidates will become members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.

Requirements

  • Have a valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Must be able to operate a standard vehicle
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Previous experience in the serviceperson (serviceperson) role
  • Access to Suncor, Syncrude and Syncrude Aurora & Kearl
  • A safety-first attitude
  • Attentive and possess strong listening skills
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement and ability to provide a recent Driver’s Abstract

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with related experience
  • Experience operating forklift, bobcat and loader would be an asset
  • Aerial Work Platform (AWP) and Fall Arrest Certification would be an asset
  • High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Fueling/lubricating heavy equipment in the field.
  • Assist with PM/Lube Services at Lube Islands and in the field (oil and Filter changes)
  • Daily Fueling and shift servicing or equipment at the Lube Islands
  • Daily servicing/Fueling of the large loading equipment in the mine
  • Assisting maintenance with lube extraction/refilling during repairs
  • Fueling and greasing of mining & support equipment, with some labourer duties
  • Help in all tasks including general yard clean up, assisting mechanics and servicepersons and other day to day tasks as directed by the maintenance supervisor.
  • Very physically demanding position working in adverse condition
  • Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies, operating standards and procedures
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
  • Reviewing safe work plans/ hazard assessment with prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
  • Complete equipment/ area walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments and ensure all equipment is running properly
  • Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors immediately
