About The Position

We are looking for a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Supervisor who will take a hands-on approach to the maintenance and continuous improvement of our food safety management system. Reporting to the FSQA Manager, you will supervise a high-functioning team of FSQA Technicians, providing them guidance and acting as a key decision maker when food safety issues arise. As part of the Food Safety & Quality Assurance team, you will play a key role in ensuring our customers receive high quality and safe meal kits they feel excited about serving to their families.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in a food safety or quality assurance role in the food or other regulated industry.
  • Post-secondary education in Biological, Chemical or Food Sciences or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of HACCP principles, the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations and GFSI schemes.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiar with MS Office, Google Apps and comfortable learning and using new technology.
  • Comfortable working in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible with working hours for business requirements, including early morning and late-night shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of supervisory experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and monitor food safety related programs, including but not limited to pre-op inspections, environmental monitoring, pest control and GMP monitoring.
  • Perform trend analysis on monitoring data; utilize results to drive improvements and close gaps.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective action plans for product and process non-conformances.
  • Work closely with the Quality & Technical Team on product and packaging testing.
  • Provide support for HACCP reassessment and new process development activities.
  • Manage FSQA-related on-boarding, ad hoc and annual re-training.
  • Assist with internal, CFIA and third-party audits and inspection.
  • Act as primary escalation point and back-up to FSQA Manager in their absence.
  • Manage team scheduling, attend team meetings, assist in complaint investigations and other tasks as assigned by the FSQA Manager.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S acts and regulations.
  • Use personal protective and safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer and report workplace hazards and dangers to the supervisor or employer.
  • All other duties, as assigned
